A Batmobile Out of a Saab 9-3
Check out this redesigned Saab 9-3, an award-winning tribute to the 1966 Batmobile.
A Stroke of Genius
Sitting pretty in Stephen’s front drive
When Stephen purchased this Saab 9-3, he knew it was destined for greatness. He bought it for a Top Gear challenge centered around redesigning a vehicle for a theme. After looking at the car, he realized it “lent itself to being the 1966 Batmobile.” So he and his friends added details to make the Batmobile come alive. They won the competition and took a 210 mile road trip from their home in Sheffield, England to Whitby and back.
Holy details, Batman
Stephen and his friends took their time in making sure that the interior and exterior were ready to fight crime. Check out some of these great details:
A miniature batarang
Seats fit for Batman and Robin
A direct line to Commissioner Gordon
Ready to deploy the rockets in a high-speed chase
Fins and flames adorn the rear
This used 9-3 is still in driving condition, and all add-ons can be removed. Stephen has the Batmobile up for auction, though shipping to the United States isn’t available. Unfortunately, like all vehicles, even this Batmobile is susceptible to salt and corrosion, “the infamous old enemies of the crime fighter.” How do you think it compares to the original?
